Recently, I purchased a dual oven/stovetop covered stoneware pan--looks similar to a 12 inch fry pan, however, quite attractive in comparison to any other non-stick pan.

When using this type of cookware, it is important to &quot;gradually&quot; heat the pan to avoid breaking or cracking the stoneware.  In addition, of course, it is breakable.

The positive points are aside from attractive-looking, it is lighter in weight than most pans, may be used on stovetop as well as the oven, and cleans easily.  The brand I purchased is made in France; the line is &quot;Emile Henry&quot;.

After testing this cookware I noticed there were no odors or other unnatural emissions, and the food tasted delicious and &quot;natural&quot;.

It is heavily marketed here in New Zealand as a &quot;safe&quot; alternative to Teflon-coated aluminum, and appears to have superior non-stick properties.  I have a problem, though, in that there is only one brand and it&#039;s not sold anywhere but mail order, and there appear to be no comments about this non-stick coating on the internet.
