How to boil water in the microwave
Posted on February 15th, 2008 by wokfusion under Cooking TipsIf you ever wanted to make tea really quick, you’re going to want to use a microwave. Using a microwave is a quick easy process that literally will only take seconds to do. For tea, water, and any other kind of water you need, use this guide to learn how to boil water in a microwave:
- Find out how much water you will need to boil.
- Pour the water into a microwave-safe container. Be sure it’s a microwave-safe container as you could end up burning other container types. Glass is usually safe to use in a microwave.
- Place the container in the microwave.
- For a small to medium sized microwave, set the microwave to High. Some large microwaves tend to heat water quickly and you may need to set your larger microwave to Medium.
- Heat the water until boiling. It usually takes about 4 minutes for 1 cup, 6 minutes for 2 cups, and 10 minutes for 4 cups. Watch the water inside the microwave for the first time to get an idea if you are boiling the water more quickly than you anticipated.
- Your water should be ready. Be careful when opening the door, as steam may be coming out of the microwave. Remove the container SLOWLY with a pair of cooking gloves or cold damp towel, if needed.
