When using pea pods, you will want to remove the fibers from them before cooking. Removing the fiber lessons the sharp bitter taste that can ruin many meals. To remove the fiber from a peapod, just follow these steps:

  1. You’ll notice that at the top of the peapod, there is a thin line that stretches across the top at the pea side. This line is the fiber that needs to be removed and is attached to the vine.
  2. To remove fiber, hold the vine-attached end of the peapod with thumb and forefinger, and hold the other part of the pea pods with the thumb and forefinger. On the vine end, quickly break and snap open the vine, and pull slowly the fiber down the spine of the pea pod.
  3. Repeat the same process on the other side of the pea pod by remove the fiber. Dispose of the ends.
  4. Your peapod is now ready to be cooked. You will need to repeat this for each pea pod.
